Scars On Broadway’s self titled debut album has a lot of expectation heaped on it from the beginning but what do you expect when it features two members of the multi platinum rock outfit System Of A Down? Well ‘Scars On Broadway’ lives up to the expectation and more from the off with opening track ‘Serious’ being stupidly infectious a track you just want to sing along to. From then on Scars On Broadway deliver a truly diverse album, tracks that would fit in alongside System tracks and others that you would never expect Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan to ever be involved with.
Full of crazy lyrics ‘Californian has been invaded by a hippie psychopath’ from ‘Stoner-Hate’ and ‘when I say fuck the world, lets get ready to rock, as I piss on your face while you suck on my cock’ from ‘Chemicals’. With such a diverse sound with pretty much every song changing in style from electro to all out rock to almost ballad like on ‘3005’ Scars On Broadway is truly a fantastic album which everyone should own. It’s hard to review this album as it is so diverse but I for one will be putting this album on repeat and listening to it over and over again. Even with Metallica and many other major bands releasing albums this year they will have a hard task beating ‘Scars On Broadway’ to album of the year as this is a major contender.
'Scars On Broadway' is out on the 28th of July 2008 through Interscope Records
